Life history

In the annals of Siddha History Sattaimuni Siddhar occupies a vital place for his anthropological work.

Keeping the benefit of people in mind, he exposed the secret codes followed in the realm of Siddha, which was adhered by others.

Sattaimuni Siddhar was born in Srilanka and was living with his family as a mendicant friar outside a temple.

Enchanted by the glow of a saint from North India, he quit his family life and followed the seer to seek Siddha knowledge.

He also gained knowledge from Siddhar Agathiyar and Siddhar Bogar.

He also learned under Siddhar Bogar and hence had healthy relations with Siddhar Karuvurar and Siddhar Konganavar.

Since he learned under Siddhar Bogar, he grasped chemistry to the finer nuances.

Soon he unfurled his ingenuity in the field of chemistry in transmuting base metals to higher level and in developing muppu and mercuric pills etc…

He being an ardent devotee of lord Shiva was presented a woolen shirt “kambali sattai” by Shiva himself. Since then, he was called “kailaaya kambali sattaimuni”.

He initiated PambattiSiddhar and transferred his knowledge to him.

Against the common rule of Siddha community, he wrote all the Siddha secrets without encryption for the easy understanding of common man.

Angered by Sattaimuni Siddhar’s act, Siddha Thirumoolar destroyed one of his works and ordered others to be kept secret in a cave.

Sattaimuni Siddhar is expert in Siddha rejuvenation medicine science and his “Sattaimuni Karpam -100” is followed by many even now.

His works on universal salt – Muppu and kaya Karpam is of major importance.

Sundaranar siddhar is one of his disciples, who installed Sathuragiri Sundara Mahalingam in Sathurairi Hills.

Pambatti Siddhar is also one of his recognised disciple for his philosophical songs and yoga sutras.

The following theory of Sattaimuni Siddhar is of high importance in the spheres of Siddha Medicine System.

“Man is said to be the Microcosm and the Universe is said to be the Macrocosm; because the elements in the universe exists in Man too; or in the other words, There is nothing in the Macrocosm of nature that is not present in Man. So man must be looked upon as an integral part of universal nature and not as anything separate or different from the later. This closely follows the Siddhars doctrine. When there is abnormality in the nature of these elements in humans, diseases are caused. Similarly, in the universe, when there is disturbance in the elements, disasters such as earthquake, storms, lightning, rain falls resulting in floods are caused.”
