NATARAJA-TEMPEL IN CHIDAMBARAM

NATARAJA-TEMPLE IN CHIDAMBARAM
“To see Chidambaram, to be born at Tiruvarur, to die at Banaras or even to think of Arunachala is to be assured of Liberation.” is an old Tamil saying.
This temple is one of the 5 element temples in southern India. In Chidambaram, the element ether is worshipped.
Many Siddhas and saints are connected to this significant Shiva temple, as e.g. the Siddhas Thirumoolar:
"Once, Siddha Thirumoolar, Siddha Padanjali and Siddha Viyagrapathar, performed penance together at the Natarajar Temple at Chidambaram. After some years of being immersed in Yogic experience, all three simultaneously had the cosmic vision of the dance of Lord Natarajar. After this divine experience, Siddha Thirumoolar instantly disappeared into the space of Siva and mingled his existence into the sanctum of the temple at Chidambaram."
